Screensaver Operations Beta 1.4-b Now Available

Dear admins! I know we've been missing with updates for a while, but we hope to get things rolling again soon! To that end, I wanted to update everyone on the latest beta version of Screensaver Operations. This beta release is primarily marked by the ability to natively run on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, as well as some feature requests.

Download Screensaver Operations Beta 1.4-b now in our forums!

Screensaver Operations is an application for Microsoft Windows systems that allows you to perform configurable actions after a computer has been left idle for a specified amount of time (e.g., log off, shut down).

I really like that you can hide one of the buttons in this version, but it would be awesome if we could also customize the Title of the Window.
I'm looking to use it to disconnect inactive VMware View sessions from thin terminals. To do so I select the "run a process" option and point it to tsdiscon.exe. All funtions great.....but the title bar in BIG letters says "Windows is starting a process".
Yes technically that is what's happening, but when a normal user sees it they don't know what's happening.

Could you please add the functionality?

Appreciate the suggestion. This has been a request for a while now and is on the list for the next official release. Please submit any suggestions, issues, questions, etc. to us using http://www.grimadmin.com/profiles.php?uid=2 or on the forums.

Thanks!

Yes we also need to logoff students (and staff!) if they walk away from a thin client connected to a VMWare VIEW session to Xp and/or W7.
Looking forward to the ADMX (as I'm still frightened of registry settings, especially via GPO!).

Hi,

Really like the look of this software and going to give it a trial this afternoon! Quick question, if using the HKLM settings does the software work at the login screen. Currently looking for something to shutdown unused Windows 7 workstations.

Cheers,
Michael

I don't believe this works with the current version of SSO due to the way Windows handles the login screen's "user" session. Perhaps the VBS code that shuts down computers when no one is logged on would be useful: http://www.grimadmin.com/article.php/vbs-shut-down-computer-if-not-logged-on.

Sweet! We've been using Screensaver Operations since it came out, and I'm glad that development has continued. It would be great to be able to donate to the project! :)
